Events are Like Trees

Our Work

At Exempla we believe that associations and business events are knowledge exchange platforms with the potential to shape our world.

From December 2019 to January 2020, our Events are Like Trees campaign brought to life some of the key concepts we see today and tomorrow’s event professionals grappling with. Although the campaign was designed prior to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, we believe the core issues raised are still relevant – even if, for now at least, we look at them through a different lens.

In an uncertain world, with increasing complexity and specialism, the role Exempla seeks to play is to help event experts connect the dots in and around their events to the wider markets, sectors and communities they serve – and to ultimately make more valuable, sustainably successful events.

The campaign was widely appreciated and shared by events and association professionals, with Linkedin as the main channel. Social media activity was supplemented by print versions of the campaign imagery.

We hope you find moments of inspiration throughout the series.

We worked with Exempla to develop a strategic plan for our fast-growing society. They quickly identified the priorities we needed to focus on, and facilitated the consensus building across several leadership bodies. The resulting strategic plan provides a structure for continued growth and aligns the numerous projects that support our ambitious vision.

Valeria Caso

President 2016-2018, European Stroke Organisation

Agnes Gehot
Deputy Event Director, TissueWorld (a UBM event series)

Exempla is a valuable partner for ASIS International at a time of rapid change in our organization. One stand-out element of their work is their ability to understand our industry and strategy, and to use this to help us and our volunteer leaders create events and content that address the complex, emerging challenges our members face. They are always looking ahead on our behalf to identify opportunities and foresee potential issues so we can achieve sustainable success.

Peter J. O’Neil, FASAE, CAE

Chief Executive Officer, ASIS International

As a Board of an International Association of Independent Accounting firms supported by a small staff team, we have engaged Exempla on several association strategy and development projects. They have always been proactive and have consistently provided us with constructive but challenging insights. They have understood the functioning of the Association and therefore their advice has been tailored to our specific situation resulting in its swift and effective implementation.

Shariq Contractor

Exempla helps us to provide our members with relevant and timely insights into the issues that are at play at EU level, especially upcoming regulation that may impact the wallcoverings industry. They are able to assess what developments are most important to our members’ businesses and present key take-aways in an easy to absorb, actionable format for busy owner-operators.
