Refreshing Conference Content and Session Formats

Linking challenges in the global economy, complex global supply chains, and technology driven change with tissue industry dynamics

The Challenge

Established in 1993, Tissue World is the leading global event portfolio serving the tissue industry worldwide. Tissue World covers the entire tissue value chain, from raw material suppliers, finished product manufacturers, jumbo roll makers, converters, traders to paper machinery makers, packaging equipment suppliers and many more.

As the industry leading exhibition and conference, Tissue World provides a hub for knowledge generation and transfer.

For the 10th edition of Tissue World in North America, taking place in Miami in March 2018, Exempla was engaged to help refresh the conference content for the business and management focused day, with an updated format and approach, whilst keeping its core audience engaged.

The Journey

Exempla worked as a Content Advisor alongside the core organising team from the UBM Asia office in Singapore. The overall content objective was to focus on interdependent factors which connected and compared expertise from the mature tissue industry with fast moving trends influencing the wider economy.

In this context, we were then able to reach out to industry leaders to gather insights through a series of phone interviews, liaise with expert analysts, and leverage Exempla’s experience working in diverse industries and professions undergoing complex change.

Ultimately, we could prioritise a set of diverse factors which linked the global economy, complex global supply chains, and technology driven change (for both industrial and consumer applications) with tissue industry dynamics.

The Result

Considering the focus on interdependencies, the core audience from leading global brands, and high-tech industrial equipment manufacturers, the Business and Management Day program was themed When Best in Class isn’t Good Enough – Identifying Hidden Dynamics to Optimize Business Performance.

The program steered delegates through multiple levels of learning – navigating the way through from global trade concerns such as the NAFTA renegotiations and China’s industrial strategy, through the industrial applications of Big Data, to consumer trends and the demanding retail environment.

A combination of thought-provoking presentations, and deep-dive interactive sessions with live polling, gave new perspectives and the opportunity to dig into the most challenging issues and most exciting opportunities.

Exempla has an impressive professional and holistic approach to the development and production of conference content and to business events in general. With strong dedication at all levels of the job assignment, Exempla greatly contributed to the success of our conference.
